Protect Your Child from Sodium Overdose!

In my last post, I talked about the #1 hidden danger in foods: sodium. As adults, we have the capacity to control our diets and what we eat. Children, on the other hand, have to rely on their parents to do what’s best. And, protecting our children from food dangers should be top priority.

Sodium in Toddler Food InfographicRecent news articles have reported that high levels of sodium are present in toddler foods. It seems that manufacturers are producing these prepackaged foods, sometimes, with three times the recommended daily allowance. Wow! Our children don’t have a chance for a healthy future.

According to Centers for Disease Control (CDC) research, almost 75% of prepacked foods for toddlers contain high levels of sodium. Many of these foods had well over 630 mg per serving; close to half of the recommended daily allowance of 1,500 mg. Toddler meals and savory snacks have the highest levels of sodium.

Prevent your child from overdosing on sodium, and cut the salt!
