Eat and Live Healthy is about taking control of your physical self through cooking, preparing, and eating simple foods; largely fruits, vegetables, whole grains, poultry, and fish. Having a healthy diet is the beginning of reducing your risk of preventable diseases and illnesses. Healthy eating is the true path to living well!
As a wife and mother of 4 wonderful, young adults, I’ve spent my entire adult life focused on healthy eating and trying to live a natural lifestyle. I quickly learned that there is a connection between what you eat and your physical well-being.
I was raised in a family of soul food cooking divas: my mother and grandmother. These women really knew how to create a labor of love in the kitchen. I’m most inspired by the many finger-licking meals they created. Although I grew up eating soul food, which is very unhealthy, I learned the benefits of eating healthy, and have been vegetarian for over 30 years; eating primarily fruits, vegetables, fish, and poultry. I don’t spend a lot of time preparing complicated, gourmet meals, but cook foods made with simple, healthy ingredients. I transform traditional soul food recipes and give them a healthy twist. I also like to create other meals using a fusion of different ethnic specialties.
Eating healthy isn’t complicated. It takes a little discipline and commitment to your health. I like to think that of all the things that I don’t have control over, I do have control over my health.
